Just finished watching The Watchmen and thought I would drop a line about it. First, please know that I am unfamiliar with the graphic novel on which this film was based. I have never read any of it, and I am solely judging this film, not the novel. So, Watchmen fans please do not be offended for my taste in movies.
In a word, eh. I realize that eh is not really a word, but the Watchmen is not really a movie. It was like the longest music video I have ever seen. 2 hours plus of decent action, decent characters, decent acting, decent storyline, and piss poor music makes this for me a long music video. It had a little bit of everything in it; good, bad, or otherwise. The cast was anchored by Billy Cruddup(Almost Famous), and Malin Akerman(27 dresses). If you dont know who Malin Akerman is she is B. Stillers fiance in the Heartbreak Kid. She's plays a pretty hot super hero named Laurie Jupiter who winds up getting down on it in the film.

Crudup is a bright blue super duper hero with a massive brain and even bigger cod piece named Dr. Manhattan. Jackie Earl Haley, (he played Kelly Leak in the Bad News Bears) plays a character named Rorschach. He did a great job. Rorschach wears a
"face" (mask) for most of the movie, which is good if you can remember what Kelly Leak looked like. He was rough as a 14 year old, now to see him as a grown ass man is downright frightening. But, he did a helluva job in this role. The rest of the cast is virtually a bunch of unknowns and I am betting that it stays that way.
The Watchmen was directed by Zack Snyder, the dude who brought you 300. Guessing by the way 300 was shot and by how many times you saw a cartoon dick in this film I'm guessing Zach Snyders into getting punched in the seat. Cruddups cartoon member is in the movie more than he is, and come time to handout Razzies his penis should be nominated for best supported actor.
Overall, the timeline bounced around a little from different characters' perception, and the action was fair. There was some cheesy ass dialogue except for 2 lines that were outstanding. One of the cheesiest moments in the film was when Dr. Manhattan was sent to fight in the Viet Nam war and Wagner was playing in the background et al Apocolypse Now. The plot was fair and the cinematography was average as well. Like I said earlier, it had a little bit of everything in it: good, bad, or otherwise. It was eh.
In loving memory of my cashier at CVS, this film gets 2 1/2 thumbs.
